US-based packaging and merchandising company Menasha Packaging has finalised its acquisition of corrugated packaging manufacturer Color-Box.

The acquisition comes after Menasha Packaging signed an agreement to purchase Color-Box in February this year.

Color-Box supplies a full range of packaging solutions, including containerboard, corrugated boxes and sheets, recyclable mailers for e-commerce, and high-graphic packaging.

The company operates three production facilities in Indiana, Mississippi and California, employing a total of 550 people.

It is a business unit of integrated packaging supplier Georgia-Pacific.

The acquisition is intended to expand Menasha Packaging’s geographic footprint and provide additional packaging options for its customers.

The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Menasha Packaging president Mike Riegsecker said: “Our two organisations are going to be an excellent fit.

“By joining forces, we will be able to offer both an expanded geographic footprint, as well as enriched capabilities in the area of high-end graphic packaging solutions for our customers.”

Based in Neenah, Wisconsin, Menasha Packaging specialises in designing, printing and manufacturing graphic packaging, displays and merchandising products for both in-store and online retail operations.

With around 3,800 employees at more than 50 facilities across North America, the company serves more than 1,500 brands in various sectors.

These include the food, beverage, consumer products, industrial and automotive, health and beauty, over-the-counter pharmaceutical, and electronics industries.

With 6,500 employees at 122 facilities in North America and Europe, Menasha Packaging is a subsidiary of Menasha Corporation, which develops corrugated and plastic packaging and provides supply chain solutions.

Besides Color-Box, the Atlanta-based Georgia–Pacific engages in digital print for packaging through its Hummingbird business and recycling subsidiary.

The company claims that its recycling subsidiary is one of the world’s largest traders of paper, metal and plastics.
