SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled a 55-hour full highway closure of State Route 4 for culvert rehabilitation work due to equipment availability issues.

The 55-hour full closure is scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021. The original 55-hour full closure was scheduled to take place September 17-20, 2021.

During this closure, an existing 36-inch corrugated metal pipe will be removed and replaced with a 42-inch reinforced concrete pipe to extend the service life of the stormwater drainage systems and to ensure traffic safety, reliability, and integrity of the highway system.

Caltrans will utilize flaggers, as well as overhead and portable changeable message signs, alerting motorists of the detour and potential delays which are expected to be approximately 30-45 minutes.

This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or materials and construction related issues.
